Back-to-School Information for 2026-27
A strong start begins with a little preparation, and the information below can help your child feel ready for day one. From getting set up with technology to understanding first‑week routines, you’ll find guidance, key dates, and ways to stay connected throughout the year.
School Supplies
In addition to a computer, students will need basic supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and headphones. Students who prefer working with printed materials may also consider a printer.
Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday (July 20-Aug. 20) can help families save on eligible purchases.

FLVS Full Time follows a 180-day academic calendar.
- Aug. 1-31 Back to School Tax Free Month
- Aug. 19, 2026 – First day of school (Full Time Public Schools
- Sept. 7, 2026 – Labor Day (no school, offices closed)
- Sept. 15–17, 2026 – Teacher in-service days
- Nov. 11, 2026 – Veterans Day (no school, offices closed)
- Nov. 23–27, 2026 – Thanksgiving break (no school, offices closed)
- Dec. 17, 2026 – First semester ends
- Dec. 18, 2026–Jan. 1, 2027 – Winter break (no school, offices closed)
- Jan. 4–5, 2027 – Teacher in-service days
- Jan. 6, 2027 – First day of second semester
- Jan. 18, 2027 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day (no school, offices closed)
- Feb. 15, 2027 – Presidents’ Day (no school, offices closed)
- March 15–19, 2027 – Spring break (no school, offices closed)
- May 31, 2027 – Memorial Day (no school, offices closed)
- June 4, 2027 – Last day of school / second semester ends
- June 7–9, 2027 – Teacher in-service days

FLVS Flex (individual courses) students can enroll in classes at any time, and do not have a set calendar. Teachers are generally available to meet with students between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Even when FLVS is closed on the dates below, students can continue working in their courses at their own pace. Teachers will be offline during these times but will be available again when classes resume. Students who would like to work during these holidays are encouraged to coordinate with their teachers in advance.

Live Lessons and Assessments
Prepare your child for Live Lessons and Discussion-based Assessments (DBAs). They are a key part of the FLVS learning experience.
These instructor-led interactions allow students to:

With more than 80 clubs available, students can explore interests across academics, arts, leadership, service, and technology.

Club Rush is one of the first opportunities for students to learn about clubs and meet sponsors.
