Live Lessons
Everything You Need To Know About Live Lessons
Real-Time Learning That Brings Education to Life
Live lessons are real-time, interactive classes where students and teachers connect, bringing learning to life. They’re not just about covering material: they’re about connecting, engaging, and growing together.
Typically about an hour long and held via Zoom, live lessons give students the chance to learn alongside classmates, ask questions, and get instant feedback. They also participate in discussions, polls, and activities, and build relationships in a supportive, engaging environment.
Research shows that students who regularly take part in live lessons don’t just keep up - they excel. They perform better on assessments, retain more of what they learn, and build the skills and confidence to tackle new challenges.
Attendance Expectations
While live lesson participation is encouraged for all students, expectations vary between Flex and Full Time programs.
General Guidelines:
- Recordings are usually available within a few days.
- Students should join from a quiet space with a video-capable device.
- Cameras are encouraged to foster engagement and community; some activities may require them.

Beyond Live Lessons
The FLVS learning model is designed to provide personalized, one-on-one support that goes beyond what’s often possible in a traditional classroom.
In addition to live lessons, each student has access to individual support from teachers through phone calls, texts, emails, virtual office hours, and more. This allows for tailored instruction that meets each student’s unique learning style.
Additionally, our school counselors assist with monitoring academic progress and guide course planning and goal setting. They also collaborate with teachers to support the needs of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students with varying levels of specialized instruction, related services, and accommodations.
