Representatives from Florida Virtual School and the University of Central Florida School of Teacher Education celebrate the University of Central Florida's recognition as the inaugural recipient of the FLVS Internship Impact Award.
Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has named the University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Teacher Education the inaugural recipient of its Internship Impact Award, recognizing the institution's role in preparing future educators and professionals through a longstanding internship partnership.
"The University of Central Florida has played an important role in preparing the next generation of educators and professionals through its partnership with FLVS," said Heather Berry, FLVS internship program manager. "Their interns have made meaningful contributions across our classrooms, student services, and operations while gaining valuable real-world experience. We are proud to recognize UCF as the first recipient of our Internship Impact Award."
This award was created to honor a college or university whose commitment to student development has strengthened the internship experience for both students and FLVS. Through this partnership, UCF has consistently provided highly qualified and passionate instructional and support staff interns.
Since its longstanding partnership with FLVS began in 2009, more than 550 UCF interns have gained hands-on experience in online education while contributing to FLVS virtual classrooms, student services, and school operations, helping to enhance support for students across Florida.
"UCF School of Teacher Education, Office of Internship Experiences, and FLVS work together to create a support system for all our students," said Andrea Borowczak, director and professor, School of Teacher Education. "Together, we bring educators and communities closer, creating opportunities for our university students and FLVS students."
The Internship Impact Award was established to recognize university partners whose collaboration has enhanced internship opportunities for students and supported workforce development efforts.
