How to Enroll in FLVS Full Time

We're glad you have decided to enroll in FLVS Full Time!

To start the enrollment process, please read the steps below and click the “Next” button to advance to the following page. The enrollment process involves several steps, so we encourage you to start early.

FLVS Full Time provides a fully accredited, online, public school education option for students in Florida. Students attend school from August to June, take six courses per semester, participate in required state testing, and those who meet all district requirements are eligible to receive a Florida diploma from FLVS Full Time.

FLVS Full Time Spring 2018 Enrollment

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

The following eligibility requirements must be met in order to enroll in FLVS Full Time. Please review the requirements carefully to determine if your student is eligible to enroll in grades 6-12.

 

Residency Requirements

  • The student must be a legal resident in the state of Florida.
  • Military families who live outside the state of Florida may enroll their students but they must maintain their Florida residency.

 

Age Requirements

  • Age requirements for students with disabilities that have an active Individual Educational Plan (IEP) differ from the general school age requirements.
  • The following requirements apply to students in grades 9-12 only:
    • Students who are age 19 or older are not eligible to enroll.
    • Students must be able to meet graduation requirements (24 credits) during the school year in which he or she turns age 19 by earning 6 credits per academic year and maintaining the required GPA.
    • Students who will be 18 years of age on the first day of school, and who, by earning 6 credits in the upcoming academic year cannot meet graduation requirements by the end of the school year, including GPA, are not eligible to enroll.

 

Academic Requirements

  • For spring 2018 enrollment, students in grades 6-8 must meet the recommended academic progress outlined below and the following enrollment requirements:
    • Students must remain enrolled in their current school of record until the close of first semester.
    • It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure completion of first semester; this includes official final grades for first semester.
    • Applicants may be accepted into FLVS Full Time, however, course progression is contingent upon receipt of final grades for first semester.
    • Students who withdraw prior to the official close of their first semester will need to refer to our FLVS Flex option for enrollment.
  • Proficient scores* on grade 5 FSA ELA reading, writing and math
  • Promotion from grade 5, official grades, and successful completion of grade 6 first semester coursework

* Proficient scores = At least satisfactory achievement (level 3 or higher) on the most recent Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) per grade level as defined by the Florida Department of Education’s achievement levels and scale scores. Students may also demonstrate academic achievement through proficient grade level scores on an official standardized test administered by another public or private school system or concordant scores on the SAT (430), ACT (19) and/or PERT (97).

  • Proficient scores* on grade 6 FSA ELA reading, writing and math
  • Passing grades in at least 4 core courses in grade 6
  • Successful completion of grade 7 first semester coursework, with official grades
  • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0

* Proficient scores = At least satisfactory achievement (level 3 or higher) on the most recent Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) per grade level as defined by the Florida Department of Education’s achievement levels and scale scores.   • Proficient scores* on grade 7 FSA ELA reading, writing and math
  • Passing grades in at least 4 core courses in grade 7
  • Successful completion of grade 8 first semester coursework, with official grades
  • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0

  • Successful course completion of English 1 and Algebra 1 or Geometry
  • 5 minimum accumulated credits
  • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0

  • Proficient scores* on Grade 10 FSA ELA and Algebra 1 EOC
  • Successful course completion of English 1, 2, 3 and Algebra 1 and Geometry and 2 science and 2 social science
  • 17 minimum accumulated credits
  • Minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Students who need to earn less than 25% of their required credits to be eligible for a diploma are not eligible to enroll. AdvancED accreditation requires “the institution ensure that students graduating from the institution complete at least 25% of the courses for graduation at the institution.”

  • Florida homeschool students: Provide most recent district homeschool evaluation indicating student is on grade level.
  • Out-of-state homeschool students without an evaluation or standardized tests: Submit a current student portfolio with evidence of work samples and activity logs (may be required).

Requirements for Students with Disabilities

  • Students with disabilities are required to meet the state and school admission criteria in order to be accepted into FLVS Full Time, just as their non-disabled peers.
  • Current Individual Educational Plans (IEP) of student applicants who meet the school’s entrance criteria will be reviewed on an individual basis in order to determine the appropriateness of the full-time virtual education option.

To maintain contact with teachers, staff, and administration, students must have daily access to the following:

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

The following documents are required for enrollment in FLVS Full Time. Use the checklist to gather the documents you will need. Please have documents available and ready to upload before starting the online enrollment application in step 3. 

❑ Proof of Age

Provide a copy of the student’s official birth certificate.

❑ Proof of Residency (2 forms required)

Submit a copy of the following documents, one from Group A and one from Group B.

Disclaimer The name on both documents and the name of the parent/legal guardian enrolling the student must match.

Families living outside the state of Florida due to military service: Provide a statement of earnings indicating Florida as your state of legal residence in addition to the required proof of residency documents below.

 

Group A

Please submit one:

  • Utility bill dated within the last 60 days. Acceptable bills include electric, gas, water, sewer, or home phone.
  • Mortgage statement
  • Lease agreement or rent receipt with name and address of lessee included
  • Home purchase contract (with closing date) and copy of deed, to be provided within 60 days of closing date
  • Property tax statement

Group B

Please submit one:

  • Automobile insurance
  • Current Florida driver’s license or state of Florida identification card
  • Cell phone bill
  • Bank account statement

❑ Proof of Immunization

Provide Florida Certificate of Immunization:

Form DH680 or exemption forms DH681, DH680B or DH680C

 

❑ Academic Records

Prior Public, Private, and Charter School Students:

  • Submit end-of-year report card for the most recent school year showing promotion status.
  • Submit most recent FSA (reading and math).
  • Submit current year progress report or report card.

*Please note that students must remain enrolled in their current school until the close of the first semester to ensure that final first semester grades will be issued.

  • Submit all prior middle school report cards.
  • Submit most recent FSA (reading and math) and EOC scores.
  • Students who have earned high school credits while in middle school must submit an unofficial transcript. Unofficial transcripts should include the most recent state test scores (FCAT, FSA, EOC) or score reports should be included as academic documentation.
  • Submit current year progress report or report card.

*Please note that students must remain enrolled in their current school until the close of the first semester to ensure that final first semester grades will be issued.

  • Submit most recent FSA (reading and math) and EOC scores or an unofficial transcript for high school credits earned. Unofficial transcripts should include the most recent state test scores (FCAT, FSA, EOC) or score reports should be included as academic documentation.

  • Submit an unofficial transcript, including all high school credits earned. Unofficial transcripts should include the most recent state test scores (FCAT, FSA, EOC) or score reports should be included as academic documentation.

Prior Homeschool Students:

  • Complete the Homeschool Prior Academic History Form here. Incoming 6th graders must submit 5th grade academic history; incoming 9th graders must submit academic history for grades 6-8.
  • Florida homeschool students: Provide most recent district homeschool evaluation and most recent FSA test scores, if applicable.
  • Out-of-state homeschool students: Those without an evaluation or standardized tests, submit a current student portfolio with evidence of work samples and activity logs (may be required).

  • Court custody or legal guardianship documentation from a state or federal agency
  • Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • 504 Plan and supporting documents
