Are you an aspiring novelist? Do you love building imaginary worlds and creating unforgettable characters? If so, grab your laptop and join the FLVS Creative Writing Club this (Nov. 1-30) for our annual novel-writing challenge.
Open to all Full Time and Flex students in grades Kindergarten-12.Each year, during the month of November, we invite writers of all ages to draft the first 50,000 words of a novel in just 30 days. This fast-paced event fuels creativity, builds momentum and celebrates the joy of storytelling. Whether you're a seasoned author or writing your first sentence, you'll find inspiration, support and a space to grow your voice.

Ready to begin? Complete the Novel Writing Month Registration Form. After signing up, you’ll receive details to help outline your novel.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. This is an optional, school-wide challenge open to students, teachers, and staff. Anyone with an FLVS email address can participate. The real reward is making progress on your novel and earning digital badges along the way.
You may use AI tools for brainstorming, researching, outlining, or grammar checks. However, the story itself should be your own original work. Let your unique voice shine.
Yes. Fan fiction is welcome as long as you do not intend to publish or sell the work commercially.
Yes. You may work on an existing project, but previously written words do not count toward your challenge goals. The challenge is designed to help you build consistent writing habits and make meaningful progress during the month.
There is no formal submission requirement. If you'd like to share your completed work, you can update your registration form with a link to your Google Doc. Otherwise, this is a personal writing challenge focused on helping you reach your goals.
No. This is not a competition. Participants can earn digital badges and complete optional challenges throughout the month to celebrate milestones and achievements.
