A student completes individual coursework through FLVS Flex, which offers year‑round online course enrollment. FLVS Flex allows students to take one or more online courses while remaining enrolled in their local school or homeschool program.

More than 242,000 Florida students enrolled in Florida Virtual School's individual online courses, known as FLVS Flex, during the 2025-26 school year. Students completed more than 706,000 semester courses, a 10 percent increase from the previous year.

Ahead of National Online Learning Day on Sept. 15, the milestone highlights continued demand for flexible learning options that help students customize their educational experience.

FLVS Flex allows students to enroll in individual online courses year-round while remaining enrolled at their local public, private, or homeschool program, giving them greater flexibility to meet academic, extracurricular, and personal goals.

"Students and families increasingly expect learning to support their lives, goals, and individual needs," said Sam Verghese, chief executive officer and superintendent of Florida Virtual School. "Whether they want to accelerate their studies, recover credits, explore career pathways, or access courses unavailable locally, FLVS Flex helps students build a personalized educational experience that prepares them for future success.”

FLVS Flex served students in all 67 Florida counties during the 2025-26 school year.

“As a homeschool parent, FLVS Flex has helped us expand what's possible for our daughter's education,” said Brennen Power, father of FLVS Flex ninth grader Mirabel Power. “It provides access to advanced coursework and gives her the opportunity to pursue American Sign Language in a way we couldn't have offered on our own.”

FLVS Flex offers more than 200 online courses aligned with Florida educational standards and state requirements. Courses range from Driver Education/Traffic Safety and world languages to health, career, and leadership subjects, all taught by Florida-certified teachers.
