Assessment Policies

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has granted FLVS permission to administer fall (Progress Monitoring 1) and winter (Progress Monitoring 2) assessments remotely to all FLVS Full Time Public Schools students.
Score results assist teachers in the planning of instruction and help parents track improvement throughout the school year.
It is imperative that students and parents take this test seriously to ensure the scores received accurately reflect the students' abilities and to help ensure that FDOE continues to allow this opportunity to our families.
All students are expected to adhere to the FLVS Student Code of Conduct and maintain proper dress and decorum.
Additionally, FLVS students are required to follow all rules and regulations below to ensure test security and validity are maintained at all times.

Remote Testing Policies
During testing, you may not:
- Have electronic devices at or near your desk (aside from your computer)
- Ask for help from anyone, in person or electronically
- Use outside aids such as notes, textbooks, websites, AI tools/apps, and/or smart devices
- Use a calculator, unless it is permitted by the Florida Department of Education
- Sleep during the test
- Stop working for an excessive amount of time
- If you are not actively working during the test, your teacher will call your name to ensure you are alert and still working. If you are non-responsive for an excessive amount of time, your teacher will assume that you have left your desk, and your test may be invalidated
You may be granted a break during testing, if needed. If you are non-responsive after 15 minutes, your test will be invalidated (which means you will not receive a test score).
During the break, you may not:
- Leave the house
- Access any electronic device, including but not limited to:
- Television (TV)
- Gaming system (e.g., Nintendo Switch)
- Cell phone/Smart device
- Discuss the test with any other family members in the household
Students are not permitted to access any electronic devices, including, but not limited to:
- Cell phones
- Smart glasses
- Smartwatches/fitness trackers
- Bluetooth/wireless headphones/earbuds
- Use a calculator, unless it is permitted by the Florida Department of Education
- Any device that is capable of accessing the internet
- Any device that can record, photograph or video
Please remember that teachers can see how far along students are within the testing platform. If teachers notice there has been no student activity within the test for an excessive amount of time and the student is unresponsive to the teacher when called upon, that is grounds for invalidation (which means that the student will not receive the earned score).
