Socialize and Connect

Field trips, meetups, and in-person events across Florida bring students and families together all year long.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) offers a wide range of field trips and meetups across Florida to help spark connections, enrich the online learning experience, and support social development for students and families.

In-person meetups and field trips are open to both Full Time and Individual Courses (FLVS Flex) students, providing inclusive spaces to connect, collaborate, and build friendships. Parents/Guardians are required to attend field trips and meet ups with their child.

FIELD TRIPS

Learn through Experience

Hands-on, in-person learning at a specific destination.

  • Led by teachers, staff, or clubs
  • There will be a cost to families
  • Various events throughout the school year
  • Families must provide their own transportation

MEETUPS*

Community and Fun

Casual, in-person gatherings that bring students and families together in their local communities.

  • Coordinated by localized FLVS teachers or staff
  • Attendance is free; some venues may have associated costs
  • Various events throughout the school year
  • Families must provide their own transportation

*Meetups are scheduled throughout the school year, organized locally—usually by county—and hosted in various locations across the state.

Full Time Public Schools:

Florida Virtual Elementary School (FVES)

Meetups: Creative crafting sessions, themed playdates

Field Trips:

  • Annual Event: St. Augustine (November)
  • Annual Event: Universal Studios (January)
  • Annual Event: 5th Grade SeaWorld (April)

Florida Virtual Middle School (FVMS)

Meetups: Casual park days, beach clean up, or public library

Field Trips:

  • Solar Bears Hockey - STEM project
  • Annual Event: Universal Studios (March)
  • Annual Event: SeaWorld (April)

Florida Virtual High School (FVHS)

Meetups: College tours at various colleges across the state

Field Trips:

  • Solar Bears Hockey - STEM project
  • Annual Event: Grad Bash at Universal Studios (April)

Individual Courses (Flex):

Flex Elementary

Meetups: Casual park days, beach clean up, or public library

Field Trips:

  • Annual Event: St. Augustine (November)

Flex Middle School

  • Individual Courses (FLVS Flex): Announcements are posted in Educator, our centralized hub for educational content and communication, by specific grade or subject areas.
  • Full Time Public Schools (FLVS Full Time): All field trips and meetups for FLVS Full Time students are included in the Weekly-at-a-Glance emails and in the FOCUS Calendar.

Connecting beyond the Classroom

In Seminole County, our Full Time Elementary students and families gathered to enjoy activities, connect with teachers and friends, to spend time together beyond the virtual classroom. These moments help students build friendships and give families a chance to be part of the community face‑to‑face.
