Artful Expressions: A Universe of Possibilities’ Showcases Student Creativity at Orlando Science Center

Dozens of students, families, and community members attended the 2025 Artful Expressions event showcase at the Orlando Science Center. This year’s showcase will be held on March 1 from 5-8 p.m., featuring artwork from more than 72 students from Florida Virtual School and Florida Scholars Academy.

On March 1, the Orlando Science Center will shine a spotlight on young artists whose interpretations of Earth, space, and possibility take center stage during a community celebration of “Artful Expressions: A Universe of Possibilities.”

Presented by the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Foundation, the 4th annual Artful Expressions student exhibition features original artwork by FLVS and Florida Scholars Academy (FSA) students. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and invites families, educators, and supporters to explore the gallery together while recognizing the creativity behind each piece.

More than 72 student pieces, including space‑themed photography, digital art, paintings, and mixed‑media work, are displayed in the Orlando Science Center’s upper‑level gallery. The exhibition, open through April 4, highlights how creativity and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts come together through student expression.

For many students, the exhibit offers their first opportunity to display artwork in a public, professional setting. For visitors, it’s a chance to see how the next generation of thinkers, explorers, and artists is already shaping their world, and imagining far beyond it.

“You can feel the sense of discovery in every piece,” said Beth Brunner, who leads the FLVS Foundation. “Our students are exploring big ideas, Earth, space, science, and imagination, and expressing them in ways that remind us why creativity is essential to learning.”

During the event, this year’s student winners will be announced.

Special Guest

Guests will have the chance to meet student artists, hear about their creative process, and participate in hands‑on activities designed to encourage curiosity.

Veteran NASA astronaut, engineer, and artist Nicole Stott, who spent 104 days in space, will share her perspective on how art and science work together to support innovation and exploration. Known as an "astronaut artist," Stott was the first person to paint with watercolors in space and uses her art to raise awareness of Earth's environment.

The celebration also features a make‑and‑take STEM activity, giving attendees a chance to experiment, build, and create.

Tickets and Event Details

Admission includes appetizers and beverages, and ticket pricing is:

  • $25 adults
  • $10 students (free for student artists featured in the exhibition)

Guests are encouraged to explore the gallery, enjoy the science center setting, and take part in an evening focused on student achievement and community connection.

Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the event. The Orlando Science Center is located at 777 E Princeton St, Orlando, FL 32803.
