She oversees and guides the daily operations of instruction for FLVS Full Time and FLVS Flex, Virtual Learning Labs, Blended Learning Communities, FlexPoint Virtual School, and all other instructional lines of business, including the Florida Scholars Academy (FSA).
When FLVS was selected as the operating education service provider for FSA in 2023, she led the effort to launch the first unified school district for 2,300 students in the care of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). Winder and her team built the district from the ground up, developing bylaws, a governance system, policies, handbooks, and hiring.
As the Chief Academic Officer at FLVS, Winder also oversees Curriculum Development, District Exceptional Student Education (ESE), School Safety and Mental Health, Federal Programs, and all matters relating to student support and parental services, such as guidance, enrollment, academic integrity, literacy, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and 504 Compliance, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), tutoring, and student clubs.
Winder sets standards of quality and assists the staff in translating those standards into high-quality instruction. As a member of the President/CEO’s Executive team, she participates in the school’s overall strategy, planning, and delivery.
Winder began her career teaching World Geography to middle and high school students in Orange County Public Schools in 1992. In 2003, Winder began teaching social studies at FLVS. At the time, online learning was just beginning to take hold in Florida as a successful option for families seeking alternatives to the traditional classroom setting.
Over the past 22 years, she has held numerous roles, including instructor, academic integrity manager, instructional mentor and leader, and senior director of student learning.
In 2024, she was selected as one of the Orlando Business Journal’s Most Influential Leaders for her contribution and commitment to online education.
