Back to School

Welcome Back!
Welcome to the 2025–26 school year. We’re excited for an amazing year! Be sure to use this page for back-to-school tips, info about school supplies, and ways to get involved in our community this year.

Tax-Free Holiday
For the month of August, families are encouraged to take advantage of the permanent month-long sales tax holiday in August to purchase school supplies. The Florida Department of Revenue publishes a full list of eligible items each year.

6 Tips for Back To School
These tips for online learning will help you in the new school year.

1. Take It One Day at a Time
Like any other school, the first few weeks at Florida Virtual School (FLVS) are a learning process. It’s important to have patience during this transition.
2. Stay Organized
Within your FLVS student dashboard, you’ll find everything you need to know about your courses in one place. Each course will have an announcement page that includes resources to help you and your child stay organized and on track for the school year.
3. Use FLVS Resources
Check out our student and parent resources page to find everything you need to know. Our Quick Start Videos are also a good place to start when you have questions. Want to learn more about Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs)? We have a page for that too.
4. Develop a Routine
The flexibility of online learning is unmatched but it’s important to establish your own routine to help your child succeed at FLVS. Determine what works best for your family and stick to it.
5. Communicate With Your Teachers
Our passionate and dedicated teachers are only a phone call, text, or email away if you have questions or need help.
6. Plan Your Week
With FLVS, you have the flexibility to customize your child’s education. Many parents opt for a four-day school week, leaving Fridays, or a day of your choice, open for catching up on schoolwork if needed.

Get Involved
Throughout the year, students have a number of activities to get involved in, such as field trips, meetups, and more. Information about these activities is shared with students in a number of ways. The information is shared with Full Time Public schools students through the Weekly-At-A-Glance email newsletter. Students taking individual courses (FLVS Flex) can learn about these activities through their teacher/s and/or on Educator, where the details are posted on the homepage under “FLVS Announcements and Special Events”. For questions, email [email protected].

Club Rush
Club Rush is your first opportunity to get involved. Club Rush is a virtual event that allows students to learn about FLVS clubs. Since we offer more than 80 clubs, there’s a lot to explore. During the annual Club Rush event, club sponsors briefly discuss their club, its activities, and any specific requirements needed to join, such as fees, equipment, and a minimum grade-point average (GPA). Check out the Club Rush FAQs to learn more about what you can expect.
