FLVS Global School Frequently Asked Questions

If a student has a disability or impairment, this should be indicated during registration. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing FLVS Global School a copy of the student’s most current IEP (Individual Educational Plan) or 504 Plan. These documents should be submitted directly to globalschool@flvs.net by the parent/guardian.

All students at FLVS Global School have access to many accommodations that naturally occur in the virtual setting. In addition, FLVS Global School may be able to provide additional accommodations per a student’s IEP or Section 504 Plan if the accommodation(s) is/are applicable to the online educational environment. Please note that some accommodations may not be possible to implement in the online educational setting.

Students/families are encouraged to communicate regularly with their teachers at FLVS Global School to determine whether the virtual educational environment can appropriately meet the needs of the student. FLVS Global School offers a grace period for families to determine if the online environment is an appropriate fit. Please be sure to discuss the limitations of this grace period with your FLVS Global School teacher or support representative immediately upon enrollment in FLVS Global School.

FLVS, the district and its schools (including FLVS Global School) are accredited by AdvancED and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). SACS CASI is an accrediting division of AdvancED.

FLVS Global School will enroll students through age 19. The student's age on the date of the course enrollment (that is, the date on which a complete registration or course request for a course semester is made) may not be older than 19. Students must complete all coursework, including final exam, before their 21st birthday. Exceptional education students who have not earned a standard diploma remain eligible for educational services through the end of the school year in which they become 22 years old.

We do not have course demos that we can provide prospective students, but we do have a few of options to give you an idea of how FLVS Global School courses work:

  • We have in-depth course descriptions that will summarize what the course offers as well as detailed descriptions of topics and modules contained within the courses. You can explore each course in-depth here: http://www.flvsglobal.net/students-families/courses/
  • For a few of our courses, we have course tour videos to detail what to expect from some FLVS Global School courses. Check out our course tours here: http://www.flvsglobal.net/students-families/course-tours/
  • We offer a 14-day refund policy for our courses. This gives you the opportunity to sign up and pay for a course to see exactly how the course content will be delivered. For whatever reason, if you are not satisfied with FLVS Global School you can request a refund. As long as you have not completed any course assignments or tests within the 14-day grace period, you will receive a full refund.

While FLVS Global representatives cannot help you decide what courses to enroll in, you can contact your local school counselors for recommendations on courses. You can also visit our course description page where you can find out more about what topics will be covered in each course as well as recommended prerequisites. With the FLVS Global School program, the choice is up to you on what courses you want to enroll in.

Elementary-aged students can take middle or high school level courses with FLVS Global School. The student will have a maximum of 27 weeks per segment to complete their course. Please refer to “Is there an age limit?” for more information.

Students who are currently enrolled in Florida Virtual School and have relocated outside the state of Florida can continue their courses through FLVS Global School. They will be able to keep their course progress, but will be assigned a new teacher.

Tuition costs will be prorated based on the work already completed in each course in 25% increments. For example, if you are 50% complete in your 1st semester of Physical Science, your course cost will be $200 for that semester instead of the normal $400.

To start the transfer process, please contact us directly by phone (800-374-1430 Option #4) or email globalschool@flvs.net.

FLVS Global School does not offer a high school diploma. You are still able to take FLVS Global School courses and use them towards graduation as long as your diploma granting institution or local school accepts FLVS Global School transcripts. Please consult with them first in order to determine if they will accept our courses for credit before enrolling.

You can be active in up to 6 courses (segments) at a time.

Instructors are available Monday - Friday from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. (depending on the instructor’s time zone). Emails and phone calls will be returned within 24 hours. Assignments will be graded within 48 hours.

Additional materials/books are not required for FLVS Global courses. All materials needed for the student will be provided within the student’s course. If you would like to verify if there are supplemental materials available for purchase outside of the FLVS Global course please contact the student’s instructor directly for more information.

Proctored exams are not required by FLVS Global School. Although a proctored exam could be requested if an Academic Integrity violation exists for a student.

Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible. A parent or guardian must email FLVS Global School at globalschool@flvs.net no later than 14 days following your course start date. Once we receive the notification, we will process a refund less a $75 administrative fee for any active segment(s). If the student is not currently active in a segment and we receive a request for withdrawal, a full refund will be given.

Refunds will be processed within 10 business days of receipt. The refund will be applied back to the original form of payment. Please realize it can take several days for the refunded amount to appear in your account.

Students are required to submit a minimum of 2-3 assignments per week. We understand many students have schedules that fluctuate due to various reasons. Please communicate special accommodation request to instructors.

Plan to spend about 4-5 hours per week on the course. This includes reading the lessons, watching any accompanying videos, completing all practice problems, and then submitting the homework.

To ensure time for comprehension and mastery, students must work in a course segment for 14 days at minimum (28 days of work is required, at minimum, for a two-segment course). Based on content, some courses may have longer seat time policies. Students and parents with questions about a specific course’s seat time policy are encouraged to contact their instructor for details.

The maximum time to complete a half-credit course is 27 weeks. Failure to complete a course in 27 weeks will result in re-enrollment costs of $400 per half-credit course. For credit recovery courses, the maximum time to complete is 10 weeks per half-credit. Failure to complete a credit recovery course in 10 weeks will result in re-enrollment costs of $200 per half-credit course.

You can send a request to globalschool@flvs.net including the student’s full name and NCAA ID#. The transcript can be electronically uploaded directly into the student’s NCAA account. The student’s NCAA account must list Florida Virtual Global School as one of the attended schools.

After completing a semester of a course, an official transcript will be available to be sent to you, your school, or another academic institution. We can send transcripts electronically, by standard U.S. Mail, or Overnight.

Transcripts can be requested in a couple of ways:

  • Through Parchment.com:
    • Create an account and fill out information at the following link:
      https://www.parchment.com/u/registration/218131/account
    • Request a transcript to be sent to you or an academic institution.
    • Pay applicable fees, if needed.
    • After you request your transcript, you can keep track of the process of your transcript within your account.
  • By Email (electronic copy/PDF only):

It is important to understand that FLVS Global School is solely a curriculum provider and not a diploma granting institution. Students enrolled with us and not enrolled with a local school or district program will receive transcripts from FLVS Global School for completed course work, not a high school diploma. Students who are enrolled with a local (or distance) school are recommended to check with their school or school district to ensure our transcripts are accepted.
