Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is a fully accredited, statewide public school district offering more than 150 courses to Kindergarten-12 students. Since 1997, FLVS students have successfully completed more than 3.6 million semester enrollments in Advanced Placement, elective, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and NCAA-approved core courses. FLVS also provides its courseware and expertise to online and blended learning programs across the nation.

1996
Receives grant from the Florida Department of Education to pilot a “Web School” with five online courses.
1997
Florida High School (now FLVS) launches with seven staff members.
1998
FLVS serves 77 high school semester completions.
2000
Authorized by legislature to offer curriculum nationally.
2001
FLVS receives first full accreditation.
2003
FLVS joins forces with Florida school districts to create the in-state franchise program.
Legislature adopts sustainable funding formula for FLVS.
2004
Authorized by legislature to create middle school offerings.
2007
FLVS Global School accepts first enrollments.
2011
FLVS launches FLVS Full Time.
2013
275 FLVS Full Time graduates receive high school diplomas.
2015
FLVS launches FLVS Flex Elementary.
2017
Governor and legislature open access to FLVS for all students.
