Florida Virtual School is funded by the Florida Legislature. Priorities in student
placement are established by legislative statute, legislative proviso language, the principles of the One Florida Initiative, and the desire to meet the needs of underserved populations in the state of Florida.
Student priorities include but may not be limited to:
- Students who attend a low-performing public school
- Students who attend a rural public school
- Students who attend a high-minority school
- Students needing a course to graduate one semester early
These registration priorities do not preclude the appropriate placement of a student in a course based on such conditions as the age and/or grade level appropriateness of the student, or course prerequisites. Students who do not meet priority criteria may still request courses depending on availability.
All outstanding materials must either be returned or paid for prior to being placed in additional courses with FLVS. Please contact Curtis Gully at 407-513-3587 x2336 to clear any outstanding materials.
--As stipulated by the Florida K-20 Education Code (s.1002.20), parents have the right to choose educational options such as Florida Virtual School for their children. A student’s full-time school may not deny access to courses offered by FLVS assuming that the desired online course(s) is an appropriate course placement based on the student’s academic history, grade level, and age.--
