What are FLVS teachers like?
Your certified teacher is actively involved in your learning and will provide consistent feedback on assignments through phone calls, instant messenger, white board sessions, chat rooms, email, the classroom “home page,” and bulletin boards. You can learn more about your teacher on our staff page.
How can parents be involved?
You have 24-7 access to grades, which are updated regularly. You also have telephone access to teachers from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day, including weekend hours. In addition, you have 24-7 access, via email, to teachers, and you can expect a reply with 24 hours or less. Learn more about monitoring your child’s progress in our “Just for Parents” section in the drop-down menu above.
Diplomas and Accreditation
FLVS is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Education (CITA). FLVS does not currently grant a diploma. Instead, credits are transferred back to the student’s local school to count towards their graduation requirement. Home school students fulfill diploma requirements either through portfolios that often include national SAT I and II scores, or they use the services of an “umbrella school” that offers the diploma. Visit the National Home School Legal Defense Association to learn more.
