The League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) award committee recently announced the finalists for their annual awards program. LACP reported, “With more than 300 entries in this year's contest, judges faced a very tough field of competition. The quality of entries was consistently high, so selecting winners was especially difficult.” LACP provides annual awards and recognitions in the following categories of communications: Websites & Intranets, Speeches, Special Purposes Materials, Organizational Magazines, PowerPoint Presentations, News Releases, Employee and Customer Consumer Materials, Featured Articles, Biographies, Books, etc, Columns & Editorials and Corporate Overviews. News in a Click was entered in the featured article category and was selected as a finalist. The award is listed on the LACP website at: http://www.lacp.com.
Florida Virtual School was honored to present plaques from LACP to Doris McManus, sponsor of the News In a Click and Julie Young, Executive Director, at the February 28, 2003 staff meeting in Orlando. Mrs. McManus stated upon receipt of the award, “My students will be thrilled at receiving this honor.”
