I have heard that all 9th graders are now required to take an online course to graduate. What is this new requirement?
On June 2, 2011 Governor Rick Scott signed the Digital Learning Act into law, as part of House Bill 7197. All incoming 9th grade students in Florida now must complete one high school level virtual course as a requirement for graduation. For more information and a summary of the bill, click here.
Who is required to take an online course?
This requirement applies to students who are in the class of 2015 or any graduating class thereafter. Students and parents should talk to their school’s counselor if they are still unsure.

Where will students take their online course?
Students will be able to take their online course at home, on their own time. They are not required to take the online course at school.
Once a student completes their online course with FLVS, how will their school know they fulfilled this requirement?
When a student completes their course, FLVS will provide them with a transcript. Students simply show that transcript to their guidance counselor who will handle the rest.
