SEIR-TEC
Patterns of Promise Award
The Florida
Virtual School was recognized for its work during
the National School Boards Association 13th Annual
Technology + Learning Conference held November 10-13,
1999 in Dallas, Texas. A reception on Thursday,
November 11, honored three schools that have demonstrated
best practices in instructional technology. The
Florida Virtual School in Orlando, Florida; The
Center for Applied Technology and Career Exploration
in Rocky Mount, Virginia; and Fulton High School
in Fulton, Kentucky.
The practices
recognized were among those submitted by schools
in 12 southeastern states, Puerto Rico, and the
U.S. Virgin Islands--the region served by the Southeast
and Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium
(SEIRuTEC). This partnership of national, regional,
and university-based organizations helps states,
local education agencies, and school personnel integrate
advanced technologies into K-12 classrooms, library
media centers, and other educational settings. To
make information about best practices available
to schools everywhere, SEIR-TEC at AEL will publish
a book and a companion web site that describe the
ideas from the three schools plus nine others. The
book, Patterns of Promise, will identify common
elements of good instructional technology and serve
as a resource to teachers and schools.
