Orlando, FL (5/7/02) – The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) held its 2002 prestigious distance learning awards ceremony in Washington, DC yesterday honoring 11 companies, organizations, professionals and institutions for excellence. The USDLA program was created to acknowledge major accomplishments in distance learning and to highlight those instructors, programs and distance-learning professionals who have achieved excellence in the field. Categories include Higher Education, Government, K-12 Education, Corporate/Business and Telemedicine.
Florida Virtual School – FLVS, won the Excellence in Distance Programming –K-12 Education Award. FLVS an online education pioneer has become an industry leader for successful development and delivery of high school education. “Being acknowledged for excellence in programming is very important to us as a school and a leading global provider of high school courses to schools, districts, states and countries. It confirms that our students receive optimum robust courses and that our customers’ are buying the best product in the market for their students as well,” shared Julie Young, FLVS Executive Director. FLVS provides content to Florida students at no charge and uses the revenues from marketing outside the state to further develop opportunities for the school, thereby benefiting Florida students.
