Florida Virtual School Selects the “Educator” Learning Management System
from Ucompass
From a Selection of Over 150 Learning Management Systems,“Educator”
is Chosen As the Most Student Friendly.
Orlando, FL (April 2003) - Florida Virtual School (FLVS) announces the selection of Educator from Ucompass as the learning management system for all of its 75 online courses. In choosing a new software platform for course delivery, FLVS had several requirements that included: multiple student assessment tools, a secure, internal e-mail system for communicating between students and teachers, and the ability to support all current FLVS curriculum without the need for courseware retooling. Because FLVS’ courses are designed with a highly interactive, student-centered instructional approach, the Educator software had to support a wide range of functionality requirements.
Holly Sagues, FLVS’ Chief Technology Officer, said that Educator was the clear choice because, “it allows FLVS to continue as the leader in K-12 virtual education. Educator’s built-in capabilities for student, instructor, and parent interaction will move K-12 virtual education to the next level of success.” According to Sagues, the close cooperation between FLVS and Ucompass personnel made for a smooth transition to the Educator platform.
Educator is a highly stable and robust learning management system, successfully used by dozens of colleges and K-12 schools for online course delivery since 1998. Ed Mansouri, president of Ucompass said that, "Ucompass shares the FLVS passion for improving the landscape for online learning and teaching. Providing superior instruction for students is the truest measure of our success."
