Think about your future. Dream about what you want to accomplish. If one picture had to sum up your thoughts, what would it be? A state-of-the-art modern research facility with the best and brightest? A vocational school where you’re in the company of people dedicated to your chosen profession? A community college with accessible professors and people from your neighborhood? Gothic-style buildings with ivy on the walls with a great green in the center of campus?
Whatever image fits your aspirations, I’m sure you have some doubts or questions about the whole college experience, if that’s even for you. Well, FLVS has got answers. The College Hub is Florida Virtual’s newest addition to student resources, and it can help you find answers to questions regarding applications, which college is right for you, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. Next spring, there will even be a middle school outreach seminar.
Basically, every two months, FLVS is hosting an online web-seminar, or “webinar,” that will help you make decisions about the post-secondary education of your choice and how to reach your dream. The first one has already passed, and it was very well attended. Guaranteed to exceed all expectations regarding the application process 101, counselors and admissions officers from various universities including UF, UVA, UNC, UCF, UM, Rollins, FAU, Florida A&M, UNF, Purdue, UC Berkeley, and UConn, were present to do just this. With over 50 participants at any given time, questions range from AP exam grades to the probability of being accepted to what universities are looking for to available scholarships. It is definitely a great opportunity for all high schoolers out there.
In the future, stay tuned for more of these seminars. In November, there will be one on which college is right for you. January’s talk is dedicated to financial aid and scholarship opportunities, whereas April will be geared toward a middle school outreach.
