White walls, dull wood furniture, and those drapes. Are you in need of a new bedroom? Or perhaps just a few changes could suffice. Either way, whatever you need, here are some ideas to make your room a little more “you.”
• Have a scheme. Not always necessary, but usually rather helpful. Also, it makes it easier to search for paint colors, pictures and the occasional knick-knacks to decorate with.
• I strongly suggest finding the bed comforter that you like first, and then matching the rest of the room around it. If you don’t, it could be hard to find a comforter to match your room.
• Boring white walls? You don’t have to go crazy to make it look good. Try a funky pattern, like multi-colored, different sized dots against the white background. It’s not too junky looking, but it’s still more eye-catching then the plain white that you’ve had forever.
• If you like color, however, there’s nothing wrong with it! Of course, you don’t want to go overboard and make it look tacky, but its okay to get a little colorful. Make sure to have all of your paint and/or designs planned out before you start. Trust me when I say it’s far better to know what you’re doing before you start, rather then getting half-way through and forgetting your plan.
• Sketch out some ideas first. You don’t have to be the best artist for this, it’s only so you know the design you’re going to use.
• You don’t necessarily need paint to make your room look good. Sometimes just a few eye-popping accessories will do the trick. Like some pictures, for instance, can bring a bit of color and personality into the room.
Remember, you don’t need to go crazy. Even just a few subtle changes could be exactly what you’re looking for. |
