How do I choose a Career?

A great place to start is the FACTS.org website. You'll find great resources to do self-assessments, career information, and planning tools.

1) Find out what you like:

  • Complete a career interest survey like the one at Career Key
  • Look at various questionnaires that help you organize your thoughts and aspirations such as the University of Waterloo
  • Read articles on careers and career searching at Career Magazine
  • Look at actual job openings and see what kind of salary, skill requirements, experience necessary, location, and future openings at a site like Careers.org
  • The Salary Calculator will help you calculate how much you would need to earn to duplicate your current salary/cost of living when relocating to another area of the country.
