3rd Annual STEM Virtual Career Fair
The Florida Department of Education and Florida Virtual School are hosted the STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math) Virtual Career Days on May 1 & 3. STEM careers exist in every field and during this virtual event, students can learn more from a variety of experts. The presenters will provided a typical “day in the life” overview of their roles, as well as provided career-related information and advice. Click on a link below to view the recording.

Learn about careers in electrical engineering & film producing!
David McGuire graduated from Florida State University in the fall of 2010 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he received a job at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. At the Maglab, David uses cryogens to test superconducting wires while inside a magnetic field. The results of these tests are providing scientists and engineers with valuable information toward designing a fusion power plant.
Amber Maitland is a producer for documentary films. She was a field producer on Koran By Heart, a film for HBO, and is now an associate producer on Hurricane: The Anatomy, a TV series for Discovery's 3D channel, 3NET. A feature film on the same subject is also planned. A 2004 graduate of Georgetown University, Amber has had a number of career changes, including writing for a photography magazine and editing a technology news website. She has studied and worked in the U.S., U.K., France, Cambodia, and China.

George A. Sprinkle IV served as a Judge for Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit for more than three decades! He's presided over thousands of cases including high-profile personal injury, medical malpractice, complex business litigation, and eminent domain cases. While "on the bench" Sprinkle earned the reputation as a judge with a passion for fairness and justice. After retiring in December 2008 he earned his certification as a Circuit Court Mediator from the Florida Supreme court. His mission as a panel member of Upchurch Watson & Max is to apply those attributes as a mediator, arbitrator and special master.
Regina Chu is a 24-year veteran nurse, serving most of her time in a small rural hospital. She has managed surgical floors, saved lives, cleaned wounds and assisted doctors in a wide variety of activities. She not only supports patients during one of the most difficult times of their lives, but she also assists patients with things most people take for granted. She is the frontline support and care for patients. Ms. Chu's experience and enthusiasm for nursing will not only leave you breathless, but can help you determine if a nursing career is for you.
