Guitar I

This introduction to the basics of music and guitar includes music notation and musical styles. You will learn practice skills, play the guitar, and perform for your instructor throughout the course. Please note: No prior music experience is necessary, but you must have your own six-string guitar and a way to record and submit a video performance to your instructor.

Computer Programming I

This highly-interactive course enables students to develop knowledge of programming concepts in Python and Java while participating in projects that interest them. Students will be fully-engaged as they learn Python by controlling the motion and sensory capabilities of a robot. Using Java, students will be able to manipulate graphics, images, and audio. Creative thinking and logical analysis will be used to develop algorithms, flowcharts, and computer programs that solve a variety of real-world problems. The syntax, vocabulary, and data structures common to Python and Java will be explored by writing, testing, and debugging computer programs that focus on robotics and media computing. Ethical, social, and historical implications of technology and society will also be examined.

American History – Conspiracy Code Game!

Created in partnership with 360Ed, a leading game development company, Conspiracy Code brings history to life in an interactive, 3D environment. Students are immersed into high-tech Coverton City where they play the game as characters, Eddie Flash and Libby Whitetree. By exploring engaging environments, meeting a diverse cast of characters, and unraveling a vast conspiracy, students demonstrate their knowledge of American History. Florida certified FLVS teachers facilitate the student's journey through this course while assessing and grading mission-based assignments.
