Congratulations to the FLVS Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year

FLVS recently presented its Teacher of the Year award to Heather Perkins and its Support Person of the Year award to Cindy Knoblauch. These awards are reserved for FLVS staff who are dedicated, creative, and passionate about their work. Heather, who has worked as a Language Arts Instructor with FLVS since 2003, also helps develop curriculum. Cindy, the Student Activities Coordinator, has organized or supported almost 50 student events this year alone! Both consistently go above and beyond to help students and other FLVS staff members succeed. Congratulations to Heather and Cindy for a job well done!

FLVS Teacher is a Finalist for the 2011 National Online K-12 Teacher of the Year Award

Dianna MillerAn instructor at Florida Virtual School for the past six years, Dianna Miller of Dunnellon has taught social studies in a variety of subjects, including Advanced Placement (AP) microeconomics and macroeconomics. Called one of the "most effective educators I have ever known" by her principal, she has taken many leadership roles, including developing a new course curriculum in AP macroeconomics, and is "a true master in designing engaging learning experiences for students."

FLVS Teacher Awarded Florida Social Studies Teacher of the Year 2010 by the FCSS

Dianna Miller's love of teaching has resulted in numerous recognitions, most notably her achievement of National Board Certification in Social Studies in 2000. Mrs. Miller was also recognized as the Florida Council of Social Studies (FCSS) Teacher of the Year for Clay County in 2003, and the Clay County Teacher of the Year in 2002. She is a past board member for the Florida Council of Social Studies (FCSS) and the National Council for the Social Studies.

FLVS Teacher Receives the Nation's First Online K-12 Teacher of the Year Award

Teresa Dove"For the past four years, Teresa Dove has been an online mathematics/Algebra II teacher for grades 6-12 and a schoolhouse Literacy Coordinator at Florida Virtual School, which serves more than 125,000 students and employs more than 1,100 educators. A resident of North Tazewell, Virginia, she is a mentor, a member of the Reading Leadership Team, and was the first Algebra II teacher at Florida Virtual to create a Model Literacy Classroom."
