Vicki Jensen

Learning Comm. Leader
Florida Virtual School

There are leaders, and there are followers. Great leaders have a vision for how things should be, and the ability to enjoy the challenge of getting there. Great leaders also make others want to join in.

Moving in a bold direction has been a hallmark of Vicki Jensen’s twenty-six-year educational career. It is also a characteristic of her extra curricular activities. When explaining why she loves skydiving and roller coasters she says, “I love adventure and thrills.” When explaining why she joined Florida Virtual School she says, “I want to be part of where public education is going!”

The theme of forward motion is evident in all of Ms. Jensen’s professional endeavors. She has taught drawing, painting, sculpture, and Advanced Placement Studio. Later, she entered the high-tech world by teaching her students about flight simulation, computer animation, music and publishing in her school’s technology lab.

Ms. Jensen’s next move involved training other teachers as a district learning resource specialist. Then, prior to coming to FLVS, she became a school administrator, serving for five years as an assistant principal of instruction. Today, her goal is to contribute to the continued growth and unique culture of FLVS, and to the professional success of the school’s teachers. She believes that the two are intertwined and says, “If our teachers are successful our students will be successful.”

Ms. Jensen earned her MBA as well as her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Her B.S. in Art Education is from Florida State University.
