Todd Tinsley

Todd Tinsley

English II
Florida Virtual School

Todd Tinsley is motivated by the achievement of goals.  One of those goals he set in high school while still in tenth grade.  He wanted to become the kind of teacher who would motivate others.  Now, after ten years as a teacher, that goal has been achieved many times over.

Mr. Tinsley is both a teacher and a coach.  In the classroom, he creates a personal rapport with each student.  He shares his love of literature and the power of language with students of all backgrounds and abilities.  He is especially proud of the times when students in danger of dropping out set their own goals, and achieve the kind of success that lasts a lifetime.

On the athletic field, Coach Tinsley also teaches about the power of goal setting.  His student athletes experience both personal success and the power of teamwork.  For the past three years, Mr. Tinsley has been chosen and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District Coach of the Year in Soccer.  He was also selected to be head coach of the 2006 North All-Star soccer team.  In volleyball in 2006, he was awarded the Florida Athletic Coaches Association district Coach of the Year.  He was also awarded the Mike Hauser Coach of the Year award in tennis.

In addition to serving on the Florida Virtual School faculty, Mr. Tinsley also teaches English II Honors, American Literature Honors and British Literature Honors at Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Florida.  He has also taught English at Mandarin Middle School and Northwestern Middle School, also in Jacksonville.   While attending college, he served as an assistant laboratory manager at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

Mr. Tinsley earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature with a minor in History from the University of North Florida.
