After seeing the success her son experienced as a Florida Virtual School student, Therese Letourneau decided she would like to help other students succeed in this style of learning.
Over the past ten years, Ms. Letourneau has had many successes as a teacher. She has taught in both high school and as a community health education teacher for the American Cancer Society. During that time, she taught Life Management, Health Science II, Careers and Critical Thinking Skills, Emerging Technology, First Responder, CPR and First Aid. She has also worked for more than twelve years at two world-class medical centers.
Ms. Letourneau believes that the topics she teaches within the life management course are especially relevant to her students and to their well-being. In her classes, she offers the kind of information essential for making important decisions that affect students’ short and long-term health.
Before becoming full time at FLVS, Ms. Letourneau taught at a medical academy with in a high school in Volusia County . The academy has won both state and national awards for excellence. However, she feels as her greatest accomplishments are times in which students are able to use the skills they learn to make a positive contribution to their families and their community.
Ms. Letourneau is completing her research/dissertation for a in a Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership from Barry University . She earned her M.P.A. in Public Administration from Long Island University , and her B.S. in Health Care Management from St. John’s University in New York .
