The courses offered by Florida Virtual School capture students’ attention, provide solid instruction, and are user friendly. These are the same qualities that Pam MacInnes employs when working as a project manager in the FLVS Curriculum Services department.

Ms. MacInnes’ job includes creating updates and enhancements to FLVS courseware. It is a process that involves coordinating the work of a team of content experts and technical personnel. It is the kind of job that takes full advantage of Ms. MacInnes’ background and talents.

Ms. MacInnes began her career as a classroom teacher. For seven years, she taught two very diverse subject areas, eighth grade mathematics and English. She also taught her school’s highly successful Peer Assistance and Leadership curriculum to a diverse group of students. Under her guidance, these students served as peer mediators and community service volunteers.

Moving from the classroom, Ms. MacInnes used her teaching skills as a corporate trainer in the Information Technology Department of a large law firm. That job developed into a responsibility for managing the software training and support aspect of a large of staff members throughout the United States as well as abroad. Following that job, Ms. MacInnes became the Manager of Training and Support in the Information Technology Department for a law firm in Boston. There, she managed trainers and support desk personnel as well as special projects and software roll outs.

Ms. MacInnes recalls with special pride the unique instructional units she created during her time as an English teacher. These units were designed to make learning both fun and effective. Ms. MacInnes earned her M.Ed. in Secondary Education with a minor in English from the University of North Texas, and her B.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University.
