Instructional FT - For Lang
Florida Virtual School
"Bienvenidos estudiantes!"
This is the kind of welcome FLVS students will be receiving
for the first time this Fall. That's because Natasha Shirley
will be teaching the first-ever Spanish course offered by FLVS.
Mrs. Shirley is well
qualified to teach this new Spanish course, because she is also
the person developing it for the online environment.
Mrs. Shirley brings a
wealth of talent and experience to the job of online teacher
and course developer. She began teaching high school Spanish
in 1983. She has taught Spanish I and II, A.P Spanish, and Dual
Enrollment Spanish for students wanting college credit.
For Mrs. Shirley, Spanish
has numerous practical, professional applications. She currently
serves as a migrant advocate, helping high school students and
their families adjust to American culture and the English language.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Shirley has also helped her classroom
students understand the value of Spanish in their lives and
careers.
Mrs. Shirley earned her
M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont. Her B.A.
in Spanish was awarded by Florida Southern College.
