Nancy Conover

Nancy Conover

Senior Executive Assistant to President & CEO
Florida Virtual School

For those who look beyond their immediate needs, life can offer many rewards. That is one of the realities that Nancy Conover and her husband experienced during their three extended stays in Russia. They went not as tourists, but as people wanting to make a difference. They went trusting that taking a risk for an altruistic purpose would produce positive results.

Although relations between America and Russia in the 1980s were marked by challenges, Mrs. Conover, nevertheless, accepted a request to help from the Russian education minister. He asked her to share her educational expertise in the classroom as a teacher, and with Russian educators in the development of curriculum. Mrs. Conover also worked with a charitable organization, raising money in the United States to purchase and distribute clothing and school supplies to needy Russian families.

“The experience changed the way I look at life and life’s priorities,” says Mrs. Conover. For her, the greatest satisfaction comes from developing mutually supportive relationships with people. That clear understanding of purpose has contributed to the success of her multiple ventures.

For eighteen years before coming to Florida Virtual School, Mrs. Conover served as an administrative assistant and presenter of Character Education and Professional Image classes for Osceola District Schools. In 2001, she established her own Professional Image Consulting Firm. A year before that, in 2000, she was crowned Mrs. Orlando International, and helped to promote and market the city of Orlando. Of equal note, are her tournament victories as a member of the Orlando Fencing Club and the United States Fencing Association.

In addition to her flight school training for Florida Express Airlines, Mrs. Conover studied at the Pushkin Business Management Institute in Pushkin, Russia, International Diplomacy at Moscow University, Moscow, and Public Education at St. Petersburg Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Ms. Conover is also the Executive Vice President of the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association Orlando/Central Florida Chapter, and sits on the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association State Board as well as a member of NACOL (North American Council for Online Learning). Nancy enjoys professional modeling, acting and long-bow archery for relaxation.
