Centenary College in Hacketstown, N.J. where Molly Trappe served as the Director of Freshman Programs, is a wireless college. At Centenary, every incoming freshman learns to study and communicate via laptop computer. Today, as a Florida Virtual School faculty member, Ms. Trappe continues to use online computer technology to teach her students at their own pace. Her goal is to enable every learner to receive instruction that is individualized for his or her own needs.
Ms. Trappe credits her success as a teacher to her qualities of caring and compassion. She has always appreciated the transformative power of great literature, and has committed herself to sharing her love of great words and ideas with students.
Ms. Trappe’s approach to teaching is to emphasize thoughtful analysis and creative expression over content memorization. In class and online, her students experience a teacher who is approachable and eager to help with questions and problems.
In addition to earning her B.A. in English from Centenary, Ms. Trappe earned a Certificate in Medieval Literature from St. Peter’s College, Oxford University.
Today, Ms. Trappe serves as our Curriculum Specialist, overseeing the development of our online English and Language Arts courses and supporting FLVS teachers and students.
