Michelle Sanders

English II
Florida Virtual School

Communication and understanding are key concepts taught in Michelle Sanders’ classes. They are also essential skills for students as they interact with the people around them.

Mrs. Sanders says she chose to teach English because it teaches the skills and concepts needed for successful communications with people in the neighborhood, or around the world. Effective reading, writing and speaking, combined with a sensitivity towards different peoples’ motivations and cultures enables Mrs. Sanders’ students to achieve productive relations with friends and coworkers.

Mrs. Sanders’ travels around the world provide students with real-live examples of different cultures, ways of living, and ways of thinking. In her classes, Internet technology also provides a wide range of educational experiences taken from many sources. As used in Florida Virtual School courses, the Internet also offers opportunities for students and their teacher to discuss new ideas on a one-on-one basis.

In addition to teaching at Florida Virtual School, Mrs. Sanders teaches English I & II at Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she coached her school’s soccer team to a division championship. She has also taught at the middle school level at schools in Las Vegas and Florida. While in Florida, she was especially proud of developing and teaching a writing workshop that resulted in a 99% FCAT passing grade in writing for her school.

Mrs. Sanders earned her Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English Education from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education was awarded by Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
