Mary Ann Fornataro, a.k.a. Ms. 4, is currently teaching Web Design I and Web Design II. Ms. 4 understands the experience of online learning from her students’ perspective. She participated in Mrs. Kane's Web Masters course to learn first hand what it takes to be an FLVS student.
Ms. Fornataro is a 19-year teaching veteran. She has taught high school television production, art, computer courses, and has worked as a media specialist in both elementary and secondary schools. She has also worked as an entertainer at World Disney World, and as a freelancer in video production.
Ms. Fornataro enjoys teaching students how to use Dreamweaver for Web page creation. She says that students employ both creativity and logical thinking in developing pages that communicate in an attractive way. The goal is to give students the skills to look “under the hood” and understand how Web pages really work.
Because her course accommodates individual student’s learning styles, educational goals and study schedules, Ms. Fornataro believes that her students take greater responsibility for their learning. In the process, they also develop the skills needed for lifelong learning.
Ms. Fornataro earned her M.S .in Instructional Media and her B.S. in Communication Arts from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. She earned her Ed.S. in Educational Technology and a certificate in online teaching and learning from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
