Martha Crosier helps students discover their own innate ability to experience their surroundings and express what they see. In the process, they also recognize a deeper and more personal meaning in all the classroom subjects they study.
Mrs. Crosier describes herself as a “lifelong learner.” In the same way, she wants her students to value their own learning as fresh and new and always exciting. Through a discerning set of eyes, her students learn to recognize how the culture of society is reflected in the art and artifacts it produces. Her students also recognize the important part they play in shaping the present and future image of society.
Mrs. Crosier brings her varied background as an interior designer and a creative designer for a dance company to her calling as a teacher. Beginning as a volunteer in her child’s school, she eventually entered the classroom as a full-time teacher. Today, after nearly ten years of teaching, her professional skill and talent have led to achieving certification as a National Board Certified Teacher.
Prior to joining Florida Virtual School, Mrs. Crosier served on the faculty of Lake Butler Elementary School in Union County, Florida. At FLVS, she uses online technology to take students on virtual tours of art museums, and to meet practicing artists and view their work. She is the recipient of a study tour of China and Japan through the University of Florida and the National Consortium for Teaching on Asia.
Mrs. Crosier earned her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Her Bachelor of Science degree was awarded by the School of Visual Arts-Interior Design at Florida State University.
