Mark Maxwell is responsible
for managing the financial and governmental affairs of the Florida
Virtual School.
Mr. Maxwell’s professional
career includes sixteen years of public service directly involved
with Florida’s legislative process. Eleven of those years he
served as staff for the House Appropriations Committee and five
in the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget.
Prior to his employment
with the Florida Virtual School, he served as Governor Bush’s
chief financial advisor for Florida’s K - 20 Education System.
As House Appropriations Committee staff, he had budget responsibility
for state agencies that were under the purview of the General
Government, Transportation/Economic Development, and Education
Subcommittees. During this period he was responsible for making
recommendations to legislators on multi-billion dollar budgets,
developing the annual General Appropriations Act, negotiating
compromises with the Senate and Governor, and reviewing and
analyzing literally thousands of pieces of legislation. During
his tenure in the Governor’s Office he was responsible for managing
the development of the Governor’s Budget Recommendations for
Education including the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP).
Mr. Maxwell earned
his B.S. in Economics in 1989 from Florida State University.
