Lisa Rodriguez

Lisa Rodriguez

Instructional Substitute
Florida Virtual School

It took her just four-and-a-half years to complete three degrees in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, and Spanish with a minor in Math.  She also managed to fit in a semester abroad, studying in England and traveling through Europe and parts of the former Soviet Union.  Happily for Lisa Rodriguez’ students, she also has a keen interest in the importance of education and in the success of all young people.

For more than six years, Mrs. Rodriguez has engaged her students with dynamic lessons that directly relate to their lives.  Fun, creativity, and variety are also hallmarks of her teaching career.  Her teaching certifications include Math 6-12, Spanish K-12, and Computer Science K-12.  She is currently working on certifications in Physics and Business Education.

Mrs. Rodriguez began teaching at the American School of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic where she developed her school’s Computer Science curriculum.  While there, she also coached the swim team, revived the school newspaper, and worked with the senior class on the yearbook.  After moving to Florida, she taught Spanish, Basic Programming, Computer Applications, and Business Principles at Melbourne Central Catholic High School.

Mrs. Rodriguez has had many additional interests and professional assignments.  She has translated engineering blueprints into Spanish for use in Mexico.  She developed a patentable engineering project, and managed investment properties.  She taught swimming and water aerobics, and currently assists her husband with accounting and marketing for their small business.  She is especially pleased that Florida Virtual School allows her the flexibility to stay active while also caring for the needs of her three sons.

Mrs. Rodriguez earned her Masters of Education degree in International Education Magna Cum Laude at Framingham State College in Massachusetts.  She graduated Cum Laude while earning her three undergraduate degrees from the University of Evansville in Indiana.
