It is hard to argue with Lisa Davidson-Duran when she says, “You can be anything you put your mind to.” The Atlantic Coast Conference believed her when they named her among the “50 Best Athletes of the Past 50 Years.” Her selection in 1993 as a first team All-American at second base in fast-pitch softball also proved what skill and determination can do. However, Mrs. Davidson-Duran’s athletic accomplishments are only part of the picture.

Mrs. Davidson-Duran’s most important goal is to help others become productive and educated citizens. She says she is a motivator. Her success as both a coach and teacher demonstrates the positive impact she has had on the lives of her students.

Mrs. Davidson-Duran served for many years as the popular softball coach at Royal Palm Beach High School in Palm Beach County, where she was named Coach of the Year in 2004. She later joined the faculty at Santaluces High School where she chaired the Family and Consumer Sciences department, and served as the director of her school’s Teaching Academy. Under her guidance, students acquired real-world teaching skills in her on-campus preschool lab.

Today, Mrs. Davidson-Duran brings to Florida Virtual School the same desire to guide students to their full potential in an online environment that allows greater attention to individual needs. She also remains passionate about the value of Family and Consumer Sciences as a subject that opens the door to teaching about life and social issues. Her husband and three children complete the picture of someone who has found success and fulfillment on many levels.

Mrs. Davidson-Duran earned her Master of Science degree in English Education from Nova Southeastern University. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Child Growth and Development was awarded by Florida State University. Her memories of professional softball were earned as a player for the San Antonio Illusions.
