Larry Banks has made
the wise stewardship of taxpayers’ money a hallmark of his career.
Ensuring a high rate of return for each tax dollar spent has
been the primary goal of his years of service.
Prior to joining Florida
Virtual School, Mr. Banks oversaw the spending of millions of
federal and state dollars on early childhood and exceptional
education programs. During his six years with Orange County
Public Schools, he made certain that accountability was an integral
component of all funded programs. In so doing, he also ensured
that children and their parents received a full measure of needed
services.
As the FLVS Budget and
Finance Director, Mr. Banks ensures that his school’s budget
supports its goals and objectives. During FLVS’ current period
of growth, Mr. Banks’ budget is an essential tool for planning
and prediction, while providing the mechanism for funding day-to-day
operations.
Mr. Banks is especially
enthusiastic about his school’s commitment to answering carefully
identified needs in a cost-effective manner. He believes that
such an environment provides all of his school’s funding sources
an accurate accounting of the impact of their dollars.
Mr. Banks was born and
raised in Central Florida. Together with his wife Karin, he
is glad to raise their three children in the Florida sunshine.
Mr. Banks earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1990 from Florida
State University.
