Ken Preuss has discovered his personal voice. It is a voice that has written four plays for middle and high school theatre, co-authored a book entitled, The Amazing Dad: 400 Ways to Wow the Kids, and spoke via the closed circuit video system at his school. Just as important, Mr. Preuss helps his students discover their voice.
As a Florida Virtual School faculty member, Mr. Preuss shares his enthusiasm for great ideas and powerful expression in all literary forms. In his classes, there are no routine assignments. Instead, there are surprises in every plot line, and memorable outcomes to every story. Along the way, there is humor and creativity and new ways of looking at things.
Mr. Preuss began his career teaching drama. His classroom was a stage, and his students were artists and performers. As an online teacher, Mr. Preuss provides one-on-one coaching and encouragement, helping students value their insights and develop their tools of expression.
Performance was a key element in Mr. Preuss’ career prior to teaching. He was a magician, a deejay, and an actor in improvisational theatre. His skill at delivering a message in an engaging way was a significant reason for his selection as Teacher of the Year in 2002 by Discovery Middle School in Orange County, Florida.
Mr. Preuss earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies for the University of Central Florida.
