Business Systems Technology
Florida Virtual School

When expertly applied, technology can produce significant increases in efficiency and productivity.  John Just believes that these increases apply equally to education as they do to private industry.  Mr. Just is in a good position to know.  He has had successful careers in both.

Having come from a business background, Mr. Just understands that computer technology is only as good as the return on investment it provides. His experiences in the real-world applications of technology include his work as the Director of Technology at a Fortune 500 company recognized as one of the fastest growing in America.  He has also served as Technology Project Coordinator for the Penn State University Gerontology Center.

As a teacher, Mr. Just’s approach involves connecting curriculum to the real-world skills his students will need in the workplace.  While at Palm Harbor University High School, he taught courses in Microsoft Office and Web design to both high school and adult learners.  He also served as the school’s Technology Coordinator.

Mr. Just’s belief in the effectiveness of technology for teaching is reflected in his appreciation for Florida Virtual School’s approach to instruction.  Knowing that each student learns at a different pace, Mr. Just believes that FLVS affords him the opportunity to work individually with each student, addressing his or her precise needs.

Recognizing his aptitude for teaching, Mr. Just pursued his Master’s of Education degree in Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida.  His Bachelor of Arts degree in Letters, Arts & Science is from The Pennsylvania State University.  Mr. Just says that his choice of a career in education is rewarded when former students express how his instruction has positively affected their lives.
