Department Manager - Tech Support Florida Virtual School
As the premiere provider of middle and high school online courseware, Florida Virtual School needs an equally high-level Information Technology infrastructure. It also needs the kind of person who can keep its I.T. infrastructure strong. John Swarts is his school’s multi-talented network support manager who keeps the infrastructure secure, robust, and reliable every moment of every day.
With its continued growth, FLVS needed additional capacity and security in its data storage, electronic communications, and courseware delivery. Mr. Swarts’ initial focus was the upgrading of the data centers that support these functions. His experience in managing networks, along with his global perspective are among the many talents Mr. Swarts’ uses when planning for his school’s growth.
Mr. Swarts is a certified Novel Engineer, a Microsoft Certified Professional and a qualified IBM AS/400 systems administrator. Immediately before joining FLVS, he served as the I.T. global support manager for Drake Beam Morin, Inc. There he managed a team of professionals and a network that spanned the world including Asia, Europe and North America.
Mr. Swarts also has a global perspective on how to serve people with diverse needs and interests. His own varied interests include philosophy and world religions. In addition, he is pursuing undergraduate studies in Organizational Communications at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida.
He is pleased that his position with FLVS does not require the extensive traveling he once experienced while managing a worldwide network. Along with his undergraduate studies, Mr. Swarts is acquiring additional training in the field of security as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
