In Jody Jones’ class, students learn the skills and aptitudes needed for successful careers.  In all of her lessons, there is a direct connection between the curriculum and the real world of work.  The process starts with a teacher who understands how students learn, and continues as they find future success in the workplace.

Listening is at the heart of Ms. Jones’ approach.  Her desire is to demonstrate a real interest in the individual goals of each student.  She then uses her own experiences in the workplace and classroom to connect subject matter with the requirements of the business world.  When it all “clicks” for her students, Ms. Jones’ knows that the job has been well accomplished.

For twenty-two years, Ms. Jones has cared about her students and their success.  She is especially proud of serving in the dual role of high school business instructor and student adviser in Future Business Leaders of America, where she holds an honorary life membership.  She first experienced the effectiveness of Florida Virtual School’s online instruction while serving as a career specialist at Wesley Chapel High School in Pasco County, Florida.  Today, she serves on the faculties of both FLVS and Zephyrhills High School.

Ms. Jones was named as Teacher of the Year by both Wesley Chapel High School and Ridegwood High School.  In 1991, she was chosen as the Pasco County Vocational Teacher of the Year, and received the Florida Vocational Association President’s Award in 1992.   Prior to teaching, she worked in the bookkeeping department of the Bank of Pasco County, and in the purchasing department at Standard Auto Parts.

Ms. Jones earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of South Florida.
