Who helps teachers transform their thoughts and ideas into a reality that others can understand? What job requires the ability to take the science of technology and combine it with the talent to communicate in an engaging way? Throughout her career, Jennifer Ruggiero has made learning fun, effective and very rewarding.
As a Project Manager in Florida Virtual School’s Curriculum Services department, Mrs. Ruggiero guides the efforts of IT professionals and content expert teachers. Her ability to speak the language of technology and understand the needs of teachers is an essential skill. Her goal is to create courseware that delivers student-centered instruction through effective online technology.
For the past 15 years, Mrs. Ruggiero has used her technology skills in a variety of educational settings. At the University of Massachusetts Medical School she served as a Help Desk Manager. Later, she became the Assistant Director of Instructional Computing and User Services at College of the Holy Cross also in Massachusetts. Her last position before coming to FLVS was the job of User Services Manager for Sungard Collegis at Valencia Community College in Orange County, Florida.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Ruggiero has been able to win the confidence of teachers by ensuring that technology serves and supports their instruction. She believes that instructional content comes first, technology is second. At FLVS, she continues to ensure that her course development team creates courseware that respects the teacher, the subject matter, and the student.
Mrs. Ruggiero earned a Paralegal Degree from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts. Although both she and her husband are from Massachusetts, they are glad to be in Orlando, Florida with its warmer weather and exciting new opportunities.
