Jeff Jacobson

English III
Florida Virtual School

Freedom is an important state of mind and being for Jeffrey Jacobson.  Freedom to follow a particular calling in life.  Freedom to understand new things in new ways.  Freedom to travel and exchange ideas with other people. Freedom to overcome limitations, and fulfill one’s individual potential.  Freedom is what Mr. Jacobson teaches his students.

Mr. Jacobson chose to be an English teacher.  He also chose to teach students of all backgrounds and abilities.  Throughout school, English was his favorite subject.  He believes that every society in every age has given us something to read and write about.  Those ideas are free to all to understand and interpret.  They are also free to Mr. Jacobson’s students who are encouraged to integrate them into their own perceptions.

Mr. Jacobson draws a special satisfaction in guiding students with learning disabilities.  For the past nine years at St. Cloud High School in Osceola County, Florida, he has taught Special Diploma students.  He is most proud of his effort to start a GED prep program, giving Special Diploma students the freedom to pursue a technical school education and an opening to a productive career.

Mr. Jacobson is also proud of the opportunity he provided to ten of his students to share new ideas with ten students from Azerbajan.  With the help of the US Department of State, Mr. Jacobson participated in an exchange program that took him and his students to Baku, Azerbajan for thirty days.

Mr. Jacobson earned his Master of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of Central Florida.  His Bachelor of Arts degree in English was awarded by Lock Haven State University in Pennsylvania.  Mr. Jacobson is especially fond of his two pets.  Mutley is his prized Boston Terrier.  And Karma is his Indian Python.
