Jacqueline Whitehead

Substitute Instructor
Florida Virtual School

For sixteen years, Jacqueline Whitehead has been involved in almost every form of education. From her teaching experience in public and private school, to her skills as a tutor and homeschooler, Mrs. Whitehead has helped students successfully acquire both knowledge and character.

For Mrs. Whitehead, online teaching is another new horizon for employing her talents. She believes that the Florida Virtual School model affords new opportunities to personalize her instruction at a pace that fits the needs of her individual students. Her goal is to discover what motivates and inspires her students, thereby producing the most effective and longest lasting learning.

In the past, Mrs. Whitehead has taught history, economics and geography. Her interest in Social Studies arises out of her belief that knowledge of these subjects points the way to better choices for her students and for society as a whole.

Mrs. Whitehead’s teaching philosophy is also shaped by her belief that developing character is as important as acquiring knowledge. She believes that knowledge by itself does not produce happiness. But knowledge in the hands of a well-principled individual produces benefits for everyone.

Mrs. Whitehead has published several articles in the Almanac, the statewide publication of the Florida Parent Educators Association. She holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama where she graduated as class Valedictorian. She holds a second B.S. degree in Education from Florida Southern College.
