Eloisa Hilton says reading and literature are “cool!” She believes that, along with music, literature is a universal language accessible to all people, and capable of uniting the human emotions of every person in every place on the globe. What students learn in Mrs. Hilton’s class are the feelings and emotions that connect them with the rest of humanity.
Key to Mrs. Hilton’s teaching talent is her ability to connect with her students. Over the past five years, she has taught on both the primary and secondary grade levels. In the process, she has sought to individualize her instruction. She has also sought to help students recognize their individual value, as well as the value of their own individual ideas.
Creativity is an important quality that Mrs. Hilton imparts to her students. Creativity is also an important characteristic of her teaching style. In class, she blends traditional teaching approaches with an “out-of-the-box” innovativeness that addresses the different learning styles of her different students. In a similar way, she appreciates the creativity and flexibility of the Florida Virtual School approach to online learning. She is also pleased to have the flexibility to teach her students while caring for the needs of her family.
Mrs. Hilton has taught 9 th and 10 th grade English at Deltona High School in Volusia County, Florida, and at Oviedo High School in Seminole County. She also taught kindergarten at Chickasaw Elementary School in Orange County. While at Deltona High, she was named Beginning Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Hilton earned her Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Central Florida.
