Ellen Doyle

Biology
Florida Virtual School

There are so many things to study and learn.   However, Ellen Doyle believes that knowledge of the biological sciences is a cornerstone for any educated person.  She believes an understanding of the inhabitants of this planet and how they interact with their environment is essential for present and future generations.

Mrs. Doyle’s desire to teach biology took shape while teaching in an Allied Health program at Hillsborough Community College in Hillsborough County, Florida.  There she recognized the need for improved biology instruction prior to college.  She determined that she could make a positive impact, while furthering her own exploration of a subject she enjoys.

Mrs. Doyle’s teaching career is marked by a desire to help students discover their individual level of success, and recognize that science is within their grasp.  She encourages students to value their strengths, ask questions, and achieve their goals.  As an online student herself, Mrs. Doyle is especially pleased to bring new learning opportunities to students throughout the state.

In addition to teaching at Hillsborough Community College, she has also taught at the Manatee School for the Arts in Manatee County.  Along with her position on the Florida Virtual School faculty, Mrs. Doyle is the coordinator of the Advanced International Certificate of Education Program at St. Augustine High School in St. Johns County.

Mrs. Doyle earned her Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a Master of Science degree in Management from Florida Institute of Technology.  Her Bachelor of Science degree was awarded by Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Costal Studies from Nova Southeastern University, and is currently working on her Master of Life Science degree from the University of Maryland.
