For many employees, telecommuting
is a way to enhance work efficiency, while also offering a positive
accommodation between work and the needs of a growing family.
Perhaps not surprisingly, program assistant Danae George was
well aware of the benefits of telecommuting. Her husband, Steve
George has been a FLVS faculty member for more than four years.
Besides offering the
opportunity to care for her two young children, Mrs. George’s
job offers many additional satisfactions. Due to an increase
in enrollment, she is the first FLVS staffer assigned full-time
to student placement. Her job entails accurate and timely student
placement in appropriate and available courses.
Mrs. George believes
that FLVS students and parents deserve professional service
from a professionally motivated staff. For her, creating customer
satisfaction is a process that must begin with the initial contacts
between a school and its students. When students and their parents
sense that a school understands their needs, the entire educational
experience is enhanced.
Mrs. George is aided
in her job by her detail-oriented approach and a prior work
history that emphasized accuracy and customer service. She takes
a personal pride in her school and in the role she plays in
student success.
Today, both Mr. and Mrs.
George work from the same home in separate home offices. Florida
Virtual School is one important aspect of their lives that they
share in common. So is their desire to care about their family,
their students, and the quality of the work they perform.
